假英语：洗手 ?

例句：where can i wash my hands?

翻译：请问洗手间在哪里？

注释：这个宛转表达归于美国用法，假定在欧洲这么问，别人可以会直接了解为字面意思。在英式英语中，spend a penny可以作为“上厕所”的宛转语。另一种表达方法wash one’s hands of something / someone，标明金盆洗手，和某事、或人阻隔联络。

3. you can say that again 说得好，我附和

例句：

翻译：

4. eleventh hour 最终时刻

假英语：第十一个小时??

例句：she always turned her term papers in at the eleventh hour.

翻译：她老是赶在最终时刻才交论文。

注释：典出《圣经》，有个阔人雇工人干活，早上五点就初步雇，雇到最终一自个时现已是夜里很晚了。干完活后付工钱，大早上来的和夜里十一点来的都天公地道地得到了一枚银币。

注释：教堂是教徒们礼拜恳求的当地，没有食物，所以，教堂里的老鼠没啥食物可以吃。“as poor as a church mouse”按字面了解是“穷得像教堂里的老鼠”，就是“一贫如洗；贫穷”的意思啦！

15. a dog’s dinner?一团糟

假英语：狗狗的晚饭??

例句：he made?a real dog’s dinner?of that job.

翻译：他作业做得一团糟。

注释：“a dog’s dinner”标明“一团糟；凌乱无章”。传闻是因为厨房发生一场灾害，饭菜做得一级难吃，最终只能把做得一团糟的食物丢给狗狗吃。

16. go to the dogs?走向消除

假英语：找狗狗去了??

例句：her drinking habit caused her career to?go to the dogs.

翻译：她酗酒的缺陷毁了她的作业。

注释：“go to the dogs”标明“走向消除；变糟糕”。这一说法还得归因于早年狗狗卑微的方位，我们吃剩的或蜕变的食物都会扔给狗狗。所以，“go to the dogs”后来就逐步演化为“变糟糕，完蛋，蜕化”的意思。

17. high horse?咄咄逼人

假英语：高个子马??

例句：after his mother died he came down off his?high horse.

注释：“high horse”是指“咄咄逼人；居高临下的狂妄情绪”。14世纪，神学家john wyclif曾记载，皇室在其时举办庆典活动时，必定骑着“高头大马”招摇过市，“high horse”便变成“显赫权力”的标志。跟着社会的打开，“马”在我们日子中的作用越来越小，但“high horse”（趾高气扬）的用法仍留存至今。

“ride one’s high horse”标明“咄咄逼人；不可以一世”，“come/get (down) off your high horse”标明“谦和一点；别搭架子了”。

翻译：他听起来如同喉咙哑了。

注释：标明喉咙沙哑，说话困难；特别是指因喉咙筒萋使的（声响沙哑）。这个短语的由来，一种说法是：在河滨喝水时不留神把青蛙也喝了下去，所以喉咙不舒畅；另一种更为可信的说法是：喉咙不舒畅时，说话的声响比照像青蛙。

19. separate the sheep from the goats?明辨对错

假英语：把绵羊和山羊分隔??

翻译：他太年青, 无法分辩好人与坏人。?
